The folks behind the scenes at The Fan are the ones who make it all happen for you!

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Angel Velasquez - Program Director/Executive Producer, The SportsZone with Bob Kemp

Angel, The Fan’s program director and executive producer of The SportsZone with Bob Kemp, grew up in various areas of the Denver Metropolitan area.  She moved to Arizona in 1995 to go to ASU and study broadcasting.  Among Angel’s stops in sports media are internships at KPNX Channel 12 Sports, XTRA Sports 910 and The Fan. Velasquez also spent time working for the ASU athletic department in Media Relations and worked there during the Devils run to the 1996 Pac-10 Title and Rose Bowl appearance. She became a producer at The Fan in January 2003 and then became the Head Coach/Program Director in February 2004. The rest is history!

HOMETOWN: Denver, CO
YEARS IN RADIO: 7
BEST/FAVORITE MOMENT IN RADIO:  One year Mike Jurecki and Gene Aguirre (our reporter at the time) were up in Flagstaff broadcasting live from Cardinals Camp. They were outside on the field and it began to rain. Gene had to run to the car and bring back to field so they could break down the broadcast. Problem was - no one wanted to unplug the equipment. Jurecki drew the unlucky straw. All was well in the end and no one got hurt, but it made for great radio!
